General Information:
The Higgins Beach Inn stands prominently on the right, at the bottom of the hill, the pride of
Ocean Avenue. You are a mere block away from the breathtaking sights and sounds of white
capped waves and the incredibly picturesque shore that extends from beautiful Higgins Beach.
This three story colonial revival structure includes a common first floor with dining, and two
floors above housing 24 sleeping rooms. The current innkeepers of almost 10 years have spent
their busy tenure as owners striving to preserve the uncomplicated charm and history that
warmly fogs this building. Their careful balance of historical respect for it's 1897 origin
and the concerns of the present is remarkable. While each room and area is individually and
tastefully adorned, much of the Inn's coordination relies on the age of computers. The lobby
is a charming welcoming gateway to a large handsome stairway heading upstairs, the two
adjacent dining rooms, and another area. This area features a cozy, comfortable sitting room
with television, a quaint and quiet sun porch, and a sunny cocktail lounge that doubles as an
ideal place for reading or leisurely conversation during it's off hours. The guest rooms are
divided among those with private bathrooms, shared baths, and with either queen or full sized,
or two twin beds. The 10 rooms without bathrooms include a sink area and share 4 bathrooms along
the corridors. Several of the rooms have connecting capability that allows for greater
flexibility for family accommodations. The Inn's enviable location along Ocean Ave from Rte.
77 is nestled between glamorous Prout's Neck and the family friendly Crescent Beach State
Park. Other beaches are very proximate, and among other activities available, many people
enjoy the scenic coastal ride towards Fort Williams, another pretty park with a small beach
and acres of nostalgia to walk and ponder.
