General Information:
Set high in the hills amid 30 acres of lush tropical vegetation, Montpelier Plantation is 10
miles from the airport and four miles from Charlestown. The historic 18th-century sugar
plantation is distinguished by the warm hospitality of a private country house. It was host to
the marriage of Lord Nelson and Fanny Nesbit in 1787 and retains many relics from those times,
including a windmill, in use until 1933.
Amenities include a 60-foot mosaic-tiled freshwater pool, tennis court, snorkeling equipment
and private two-acre beach, Montpelier by the Sea, with daily shuttle service from the inn.
The beach features sun shelters, pavilion for barbecue lunches, telephone and changing room
with shower. The two restaurants are overseen by six Nevisian and European chefs. The Terrace
is an award-winning, open-air restaurant on the western veranda serving breakfast and dinner
with nighttime views of the Charlestown lights, and The Mill Courtyard is an intimate
restaurant set in an original 18th-century sugar mill. It serves a four-course prix fixe menu
three times a week and is available for private parties. Filled with antiques and comfortably
furnished, the Great Room is a place for guests to gather and enjoy cocktails before and after
dinner nightly.
Island elegance distinguishes the guestrooms, each with private verandas and panoramic views.
All rooms feature two double or one canopy or four-poster king bed, Porthault linens, chenille
throws, louvered windows, direct-dial telephone, ceiling fan, tea and coffee making facilities,
safe, private bathroom with Gilchrest and Sommes bath products, hairdryer and twice-daily maid
service. Air-conditioning is provided in select rooms. The price includes a resort fee.
Honeymooners receive a free champagne picnic on the beach for two for stays of 10 nights or
more from 12/15-1/3/09 and 1/4-12/15/09. Valid for Honeymooners only (proof required), for all
