Our elegantly remodeled Best Western Friday Harbor Suites is nestled on the outskirts of town,
yet is within walking distance of the waterfront and shopping area of Friday Harbor. Some of
the new features and amenities you will come to enjoy at our hotel are gas fireplaces, plush
pillow top mattresses, your own private balcony or patio, spacious meeting and a banquet
facilities and our new fine dining restaurant and lounge. All rooms are non-smoking. Bring
your small cat or dog under 25 lbs. to our pet friendly hotel for a nominal non-refundable fee
of 20.00 per night. We will be happy to accommodate you and your canine or feline pet in our
designated pet friendly rooms. Guest who brings pets in undesignated pet rooms will be charged
a 250 per night fee.
The San Juan Islands are the home of three pods (families) of Orcas (killer whales). Whale
watch tours are available from late May through September. Bus tours of the Island are also
available during this time.
San Juan Island is the location of the 'Pig War' between the United State and Great Britain
from 1859 to 1872 (The only casualty was the pig). This 'war' determined the boundary between
the United States and Canada. San Juan Island National Historical Park consists of the two
opposing camp grounds.
Friday Harbor and the San Juan Islands are a very rural setting. It is not uncommon to see
Bald Eagles soaring overhead or deer, foxes and other creatures wandering through town. Orcas,
Minke Whales, porpoises and seals abound in the local waters. Clean air, clean water, no
traffic signals and no parking meters add to the many other comforts of this idyllic area.
Plane, boat or auto ferry are the only ways to get here. The boat/ferry ride through this
archipelago is an adventure by itself.
