- Medications
When packing medications, pack them in more than one place in case a bag is lost. Be sure to keep some in your carry-on bag.

- Medications
Take more medical supplies on a trip than you expect to use. If some are damaged or lost, you should still have enough.

- Head Rest
On a plane, don't grab the headrest in front of you to get out of your seat. You may accidentally pull the hair of the person sitting there. Even if you don't, it is an annoying tug on the seat for that person. Use the armrests instead.

- Label your laptop computer
Tape a business card or other identifying information beneath your laptop to avoid loss or the accidental 'exchange' with travelers.

- Accommodations That Allow Pets
There is a great series of books: On The Road Again with Man's Best Friend, by Dawn and Robert Habgood. They actually go out and check out all the B&Bs, inns, and hotels that they recommend and write about in their regional guides. I have the New England one and it is great - 2 to 3 page descriptions on each of the places. They also have a huge 900-page United States version.

- Breakfast
Look for hotels and B&Bs that include breakfast in the cost of the room. Not only will this speed your morning along, you can save your money for a more tasty meal later in the day.

- Extension Cord
Hotel outlets aren’t always placed in the most convenient spots. Pack an extension cord so you can use your laptop computer or the ironing board from your preferred spot.

- Valuables
Items stolen from a hotel room (whether out in the room or in the safe) are rarely covered by hotel insurance. If you must bring valuables along, ask the front desk staff to put them in the hotel safe. Check to see what the hotel’s liability limit is to make sure there is sufficient coverage if they are stolen.
